This week’s TMI Tuesday questions were submitted by the late phoenix
1. What is your favorite food and drink? Please, tell a tale of how these two items came to be so special to you, we’d love to hear about it:
My favorite food is a 2-way tie. First (and perhaps surprisingly): tomatoes. I looooove tomatoes. Grown at home are the tastiest (and smell the best), but I’m also a fan of Cherry tomatoes and Campari varieties. I am not a fan of Roma, Beefsteak, or Grape tomato varieties.
My favorite part of the tomato is the seeds and slimy part that contains the seeds… give me a tomato and I’ll eat it like an apple (but I suck the seeds out first). How did I fall in love with this fruit? I have no idea. I grew up eating a lot of fresh tomatoes and it just became an easy, delicious, and satisfying snack for me.
Chocolate. My love affair has been long and deep. I liked chocolate like any other kid until my parents took me to Europe at age 7.
Then I realized what chocolate could be and really liked it. When I spent a year in France in college, I ate nothing but the best chocolate France, Switzerland, and Belgium had to offer (Swiss is my favorite). I can hardly eat commercial American chocolate today… Ghiradelli is the exception due to its relatively high quality (I find their dark to be a bit dry compared to some European varieties).
Lindt is probably my favorite brand for eating. I love to bake with chocolate and prefer Ghiradelli for “cheap yet quality” or Schaffen Berger for “expensive but high quality” chocolate.
Drink? Water. But not just any water. I am a water snob — and my favorite brand/variety/flavor of water is Evian. This water has the perfect balance of flavor its an absolute delight to drink it. It is smoother in its feel than other waters and quenches more than others.
I absolutely dislike Aquafina, Dasani is a backup if necessary, and Nestle isn’t horrible. Icelandic water is over-rated, but not nearly as awful as Fiji water (never again!).
2. Have you ever incorporated the two items above or any food and/or drink into your sex play, like that certain famous film with the numbers in its title? Do tell, don’t leave out any saucy details:
Well, I don’t think it would be too sexy to spill Evian or tomato juice on a lover to lick it off…. so no. It might be surprising to hear that I haven’t really incorporated chocolate, either. Both of my lovers have been strictly anti-food+sex, so I haven’t even bothered. Maybe one day…
3. Do you have a food/drink-related pet name for your lover? Does your lover have one for you? What are they? For example: pumpkin pie, tall drink of water…
We do call each other a lot of typical relationship-y names like honey and sweety. Occasionally there’s a “sugar-lips” or “pussy pie” but those aren’t common.
4. Please complete this dramatic scene from a one-act play I’m working on for my local community theatre:
MAN: do you like rain?
WOMAN: what? rain, as in the weather rain?
MAN: no, i meant bread, i said rain, but i meant bread, i’m nervous around pretty women. do you like bread?
WOMAN: um, mister, did you know that my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard?
MAN: i know, i know, i drink your milkshake…
WOMAN: Um, did I say you could do that?
MAN: Well, no…. but I thought…
WOMAN: Seriously, how weird are you? Rain, bread, and now you want my milkshake? Freak.
*she walks away as man watches her go*
MAN: And this is why I never talk to women!
5. Garrison Keillor once said, “Sex is good, but not as good as fresh sweet corn.” Do you agree or disagree? Make an argument for one against the other:
I like Garrison Keillor… but it sounds like he had a boring sex life.
Bonus: You have a best friend, this person has been your best friend since kindergarten. you are eating a bag of Cheetos on a park bench next to this friend. suddenly without warning, the friend smacks you across the face and exclaims, “Give me back my Cheetos, bitch!” What is your immediate reaction?
False. I don’t like Cheetos, so I wouldn’t be eating them!
